A Premier Facility for Cross Country
The Settler's Hill Cross Country Course opened in August 2021. During the first four seasons, the Course has hosted 34 cross country meets with a total of 12,510 runners crossing the finish line, and over 24,000 spectators attending the events. The Course was designed for middle school, high school, and college meets. The Chicago Area Track & Field Organizing Committee maintains and operates the Course under a lease from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. We are an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization, with 501(c)(3) charity status. No tax dollars support the Course.
In addition to being a competition venue, the Course is open to the public for jogging and walking, from sunrise to sunset on any day when there is not a meet scheduled. Visitors to the Course should park on the north side of the Fox Valley Ice Arena, and walk up the stone path behind the Strikers Soccer building. The Course's panoramic views of the Chicago skyline and the Fox River Valley provide a first-class experience for all!
